Musical Biography

I am a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Currently my main project is the indie folk/heartland rock ensemble Now The Rose (formerly athabaska).

From 2015 to 2020, my main project was Suggested Friends (Fika/HHBTM), with whom I released one 7” EP, Chicken/Called Her Out in the Worst Way (2016, Odd Box 100 Club) and two LPs, self-titled (2018, Odd Box Records) and Turtle Taxi (2019, Fika/HHBTM). Suggested Friends played at major festivals such as End Of The Road, Indietracks and Athens Popfest; toured extensively in Britain and the US; and attained national radio-play.

From 2016 to 2018 I was lead guitarist in dream-pop ensemble Chorusgirl, with whom I toured extensively in Germany and Britain. Alongside my role as guitarist in the band, I wrote and arranged two songs on Chorusgirl’s 2018 LP Shimmer and Spin (Reckless Yes).

From 2012 to 2015 I was principally a solo artist, and wrote and released two albums: Beachcomber (RUR, 2014) and Soon (FTSOT, 2017). In 2011 I also released a solo EP called Reasons To Be Fearful (self-released).

I have performed on Mammoth Penguins’ There’s No Fight We Can’t Both Win (Fika 2019) and Emma Kupa’s It Will Come Easier (Fika 2020). Throughout the 2010s I also performed extensively with hip hop collective Shop Floor Sessions and neo-soul ensemble The Ongoing Project.

I have performed and recorded music as part of the pro-Palestine parody group Some F***ing People, formed in 2017 to campaign against Radiohead breaching Palestinian calls for boycott, divestment and sanctions against Israel’s military occupation. In 2019 I also worked with activists to arrange, perform and co-produce a series of parody songs protesting Israel’s pinkwashing of Eurovision.

Beyond writing and performing, I have organised and hosted many musical events and projects for over a decade.
